WELCOME TO LUMBERJACKS / DAYTON YOUTH WATER POLO CLUB!!!

The Lumberjacks / Dayton Youth water polo club has been going strong since 2008 and has an experienced coaching staff.  The head coach, Sean Geehan, played and coached at the University of Dayton, and coached the UD collegiate club team to a national championship in 1995.  Assistant coaches Nick Feltes and Drew Schoen both played at the University of Dayton, and Colin McGrath (goalie coach) played at Miami (OH) University.  Assistant coach, Dave Schalm, played water polo at the US Naval Academy.

We are the only youth water polo club in the Dayton area and take in players (both boys and girls) from many Dayton area schools.  We are proud to have shared this great sport with so many athletes and their families over the years.

Water polo is a great sport that is both physically challenging and loads of fun.  We want to develop our athletes' water polo skills in an environment that is positive and challenging.  We strive to teach them individual and team water polo skills that will make them contributing team members.  We hope to impress upon them, among other life skills, the importance of physical activity, teamwork, responsibility, and grit.

If you are interested in our club or have any questions, please contact us at daytonwaterpolo@gmail.com

PARTICIPATION – Lumberjacks / Dayton Youth Water Polo is Coed.  Additionally, as the only Water Polo team in the Dayton area, we are open to players from any school system.

ATTENDANCE - Our Fall program is our in-season Varsity / JV program.  Attendance is NOT mandatory but highly encouraged as we will be conditioning and developing team / individual skills.  If your player has other commitments that conflict with water polo games, please let us know.

Our spring and summer programs are quite low-key.  We understand that your kids have other activities and vacations and will likely not make every practice.  Although we strongly encourage attendance, the skills we teach will be repeated several times during the season.  Missing a few practices will not significantly affect their development.

SET UP AND TEAR DOWN EQUIPMENT - Setting up the equipment (goals, balls, caps, etc.) is quick and easy if everyone lends a hand.  All players will be expected to help out.

WEATHER - Any weather delays / cancellations will be communicated via email and group me.  This is particularly relevant during the Summer.

GAMES - You can expect a few home or away games during the spring and summer seasons.  In the fall we typically have one home/away game mid week, and tournaments on the weekends.
